Overview

This instrument is suitable for non-cohesive soils with particle diameters less than 5 mm, provided that the mass of particles in the 2–5 mm size range does not exceed 15% of the total sample mass. It is used to determine the maximum density and minimum void ratio of the soil for calculating its relative density.
