Overview:

This test method is suitable for determining the density of coarse-grained and very coarse-grained soils in the field.

Technical Specifications:

1. Base Plate: The base plate is an iron plate with a circular hole in the center and a square or circular outer edge; a ring is fitted over the circular hole.

2. The diameter of the ring opening is three times the size of the largest stone particle in the soil, and the height of the ring is 5% of the particle’s diameter.

3. Film: Polyethylene plastic film.

4. Water Storage Cylinder: The cylinder should have a uniform diameter and be marked with graduations.
