Purpose:

The liquid limit test using a disc-type apparatus involves dividing the soil paste in the soil disc into two halves with a cutting knife, then dropping the soil disc from a height of 10 mm at a rate of 2 drops per second. When the number of drops reaches 25, the length of the overlap between the two halves of the soil paste at the bottom of the disc exactly reaches 13 mm; the moisture content at this point is the liquid limit. This product is designed and manufactured in accordance with the GB/T 21997.1-2008 standard and complies with SL 237-1999 “Specifications for Soil Testing,” JTG E40-2007 “Specifications for Highway Soil Testing,” TB10102-2010 “Specifications for Soil Testing in Railway Engineering,” GB/T50123-2019 “Standard Methods for Geotechnical Testing,” JTG3430-2020 “Specifications for Geotechnical Testing in Highway Engineering,” JTG3432-2024 “Specifications for Aggregate Testing in Highway Engineering,” and ASTM D4318 “Standard Test Method for Liquid Limit of Soils,” among other standards.
