I. Overview
This instrument was developed in accordance with the T0709 standard for the Marshall stability test of asphalt mixtures, as specified in the “Test Procedures for Highway Engineering and Asphalt Mixtures” (JTG E20-2011) issued by the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China. It is suitable for conducting Marshall stability tests and water-soaked Marshall stability tests for the purpose of designing asphalt mixture mix designs or inspecting the construction quality of asphalt pavements. This method is applicable to the standard Marshall test specimens (cylinders, Φ101.6 mm × 63.5 mm) formed in accordance with T0702 of the “Test Procedures for Highway Engineering and Asphalt Mixtures” (T0702) for standard Marshall test specimens (cylinders, Φ101.6 mm × 63.5 mm) and large Marshall test specimens (cylinders, Φ152.4 mm × 95.3 mm). Standard configuration: One set of Marshall indenters (101.6 mm).
